“During the conflict my brother was granted political asylum in the UK, and in 1998 the British granted me indefinite leave to remain in England. I lived in Leeds, working in odd jobs - catering, warehouse packing, and a job at Eastgate Job Centre, helping people get back into employment. I returned to Sudan in 2005, and was appointed Deputy Minister for Humanitarian Affairs and Disaster Management on 1st Sept 2011.”
